November 2016, part 1

November began a week ago, and with it came a flurry of creative inspiration. D.L. Mayfield announced she will be posting something on her blog everyday this month—a practice in noticing and gratitude. November’s challenge in A Year of Creative Habits group is to post a photo everyday of this month. Which reminded me of when I was in college and wrote a haiku each day during the month of November for a creative writing class.

So this year I’m going to try to combine these various practices  into a weekly post: poetry, photos, noticing, gratitude. My semester is getting busy to the point where I’m beginning to feel unhinged.

i blew in on the witching wind

frost on rooftops, fog swirling down the canal

words spoken to heal a city

a light to ward off darkness

sun on linoleum and white walls and dried flowers

slow walks in sandals, no socks

endless blue skies
